NEW EDITION OF THE FREE ON-LINE COURSE OF INSTITUT PASTEUR
Realized with the support of the Fondation Ipsen, under the aegis of Fondation de France.
Vaccines are among the most effective public health interventions currently available. Several diseases have been eradicated or reduced drastically through vaccination. Together, with antibiotics and clean water, vaccines have increased life expectancy in both high- and low-income countries. Despite the success of vaccination in preventing diseases, several challenges remain in regard of persisting epidemics and new pandemics.
This MOOC will explain the basics of vaccinology, an integrated discipline and the development of new technologies to produce new vaccines. It will give you details on the recently developed vaccines and the approach to develop new ones against HIV, virus-induced cancers, and new emerging viruses. Above all, this MOOC will indicate how to improve the coverage of populations at risk such as babies at early life, pregnant women and elderlies with less immune response, and make vaccination available in developing countries. This should take into consideration the implementation of new sustainable models for the developing world and to revisit the future of vaccinology in a more global health perspective.
This MOOC is part of the Online Diploma of infectious Diseases of the Institut Pasteur DNM2IP.
