An interdisciplinary research team formed by Otger Campàs (University of California Santa Baraba) and colleague Jérome Gros (Institut Pasteur), has received one of the prestigious 2015 Human Frontier Science Program (HFSP) Young Investigators grants. Awarded to a select group of scientists who undergo a rigorous year-long selection process, the highly competitive collaborative research grants fund cutting-edge scientific research under the umbrella theme of “complex mechanisms of living organisms.”

Ferring Pharmaceuticals a research-driven, specialty biopharmaceutical group and the Institut Pasteur, a non-profit international biomedical research center in Paris (France) today announced a collaboration aimed at identifying and developing bacteriophages to treat patients suffering from inflammatory bowel disease (IBD).

Près de 550 professionnels de la générosité et de la gestion de patrimoine se sont réunis mardi 31 mars 2015 au Centre de Conférences de l’Institut Pasteur, à Paris, pour découvrir les freins et perspectives d'un secteur qui se renouvelle sans cesse.

Après le décès de trois nourrissons à l’hôpital de Chambéry en décembre 2013, les chercheurs de l’Institut Pasteur avaient rapidement établi l’implication d’une bactérie jusqu’alors inconnue, responsable de la contamination de poches de nutrition parentérales. Les scientifiques publient aujourd’hui l’article instituant la reconnaissance officielle et la caractérisation complète de cette bactérie, appartenant à un nouveau genre. Celle-ci a été baptisée Rouxiella chamberiensis, en hommage à Emile Roux.

A l'occasion du prochain sommet annuel du G7 des 7 et 8 juin 2015, l'Institut Pasteur s'est associé à une initiative soutenue par 90 acteurs de la santé mondiale proposant d'accélérer la lutte contre les maladies tropicales négligées et de contribuer ainsi à réduire le niveau d’extrême pauvreté dans les pays les plus défavorisés.

As a result of partnership agreement, IntegraGen will be the main operator of high-throughput sequencing activities for the French National Reference Center (NRC) and microbiological collections at the Institut Pasteur. High-throughput sequencing will be the reference tool for analysis, surveillance and diagnostic activities associated with the above in line with the public health mission of the Institute.

L’ambition pour ces structures est de pouvoir s’appuyer, dans le cadre de leur mission de santé publique, sur le séquençage à haut débit comme outil de référence en matière d’analyse, de surveillance et de diagnostic.

Following the death of three newborns at Chambéry hospital (France) in December 2013, scientists at the Institut Pasteur quickly drew connections to a previously unknown bacterium responsible for the contamination of parenteral nutrition bags. Today, these scientists are publishing an article to announce the official recognition and complete characterization of this bacterium, which belongs to an entirely new genus. In homage to Emile Roux, a close collaborator of Louis Pasteur and head of the Institut Pasteur from 1904 to 1933, the bacterium was named Rouxiella chamberiensis.
