Fondation Mérieux and Institut Pasteur signed September 12, 2014 a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU). This MOU serves to set forth the areas of collaboration in response to the Ebola virus disease (EVD) and other hemorrhagic fever diseases in Western Africa through three ways:

Thanks to a large-scale study conducted on nearly 1,000 autistic patients, scientists succeeded in mapping the clinical incidence and impact of certain genetic mutations linked to the cognitive and intellectual abilities of the patients. Mutations affecting the SHANK3 gene were shown to coincide with the most severe cases of autism and are associated with 1 out of 50 children with autism and intellectual deficits.

The University of Oxford and the Institut Pasteur have signed in August 2014, an agreement for an international collaboration concerning the project “The Global Health Network”.

Le mercredi 17 septembre 2014, une équipe de France 24 a réalisé un reportage sur le rôle de l’Institut Pasteur dans le diagnostic d’Ebola en République Centrafricaine.
Les Docteurs Alain FARRA, biologiste et Alexandre MANIRAKINZA, chargé de recherche ont été interviewés. Le tournage est effectué en enceinte de sécurité P2 et P3.

Depuis l’identification du virus Ebola en Guinée en mars 2014, l’Institut Pasteur et le Réseau International des Instituts Pasteur, dans le cadre de leurs mandats de centres collaborateurs de l’OMS, offrent leur assistance au plan d’aide international en matière d’appui au diagnostic et de surveillance épidémiologique. Aujourd’hui, face à la gravité et à l’expansion de l’épidémie l'Institut Pasteur et le Réseau International des Instituts Pasteur renforcent et coordonnent leurs efforts pour lutter contre la maladie de manière efficace.
