Epidemiology and Public Health

With sessions on theory and hands-on practicals, the courses held at the Teaching Center are grouped into three themed areas: Epidemiology and Public Health, Mechanisms of Living Organisms, and Biology of Microorganisms.

"Epidemiology and Public Health" Pasteur Courses:

international course on surveillance and control of rabies
International course on surveillance and control of rabies

The objective of this course is to provide theoretical and practical training on rabies within the framework of an integrated rabies control program for students and professionals of the human and animal health sectors. The course will emphasize the need for a multidisciplinary approach and intersectoral collaboration according to the "one health" concept in the Southern African context. This course will be the 8th in a series organized in different dog rabies enzootic countries with the support of WHO, WOAH, FAO, GARC, the Pasteur Network, the Universities of Lausanne and Glasgow and the HSeT Foundation.

Pasteur Course Analysis of data by STATA 1

This course is part of a training path consisting of three one-week courses that can be followed independently, presents the principles and use of the Stata software to perform statistical analyses (comparison of categorical and continuous variables, logistic regression and survival analysis) on biomedical databases.

Pasteur Course Analysis of data by STATA 2

This course is part of a training path consisting of three one-week courses that can be followed independently, presents the principles and use of the Stata software to perform statistical analyses (comparison of categorical and continuous variables, logistic regression and survival analysis) on biomedical databases.

Pasteur Course Analysis of data by STATA 3

This course is part of a training path consisting of three one-week courses that can be followed independently, presents the principles and use of the Stata software to perform statistical analyses (comparison of categorical and continuous variables, logistic regression and survival analysis) on biomedical databases.

course pasteur climate change and population health
Pasteur Course Climate change and population health

This course is designed for Master's and PhD students who wish to understand the links between climate change and public health, and to familiarize themselves with various tools for better characterizing these relationships.

course pasteur clinical trial methodology
Pasteur Course Clinical trial methodology

This one-week course is aimed at all areas of health and addresses different methodological and theoretical aspects of clinical trials.

Pasteur Course Creation and management of data bases

This one-week course presents the use of Access, Epidata and Wepi software to build and manage clinical and epidemiological databases.

Pasteur Course Human population genomics and genetic epidemiology

This two-week course presents theoretical lectures, research examples and hands-on computer training on concepts and tools used in the study of human population genomics and genetic epidemiology. The practical training (computer laboratory work and discussion of the results) is based on real-data examples, using infectious diseases as a paradigm.

Pasteur - IRD Course Insect vectors and transmission of pathogens

This Pasteur-IRD course focuses on diseases whose aetiological agents are transmitted by vectors and which constitute a major public health problem. The countries of the intertropical zone are primarily concerned, but the temperate zones are not spared with the recent occurrence of vector-borne diseases and the recent invasions of vector species.

Pasteur Course Introductory course in the R software

The course « Initiation to R » aims to present the programming language R, in particular data import into the R environment, manipulation of data and data export. Data description using baseline statistical functions, most commonly used statistical tests and graphs will also be addressed.

Pasteur Course Modeling of infectious diseases

This one-week course provides a thorough introduction to mathematical modeling of infectious diseases for students and professionals in science, medicine and public health.

course pasteur mother child dyad
Pasteur Course Mother-child dyad: current evidence in a global perspective

This one-week intensive course covers the main issues related to maternal and child health.
