The Institut Pasteur, an international center for biomedical research recognized for its contributions to science and public health, has reached a strategic turning point in its history. This has prompted a new visual and narrative identity aimed at strengthening ties with the public.

In a constantly changing world, where demand for information and transparency is understandably strong, we have taken ambitious steps to modernize our graphic identity, so it more faithfully represents our missions and presents them as clearly and accessibly as possible.

An outstanding heritage and renewed commitment
Over its history spanning almost 140 years, the Institut Pasteur has earned itself a key place in the scientific research landscape. Our organization's continued commitment to society is now embodied in a new identity, which is designed to optimally support our communications. This identity aims to ensure greater clarity regarding our missions and a stronger focus on the human stories behind our discoveries and scientific breakthroughs, with a more familiar tone adopted to support our traditional and social media presence.

Clearer messaging to increase people's understanding and engagement
One of the main challenges facing the Institut Pasteur is to explain its missions and status to a French and international audience.
While 95% of French people state that they know of the Institut Pasteur, at least by name (1), only 62% are aware of its status (as a non-profit foundation authorized to receive donations and legacies) and many people are still unsure what missions it pursues. The Institut Pasteur is a non-profit foundation. Its mission is to help prevent and treat diseases, mainly those of infectious origin. Our long-standing missions of research, education, medicine and surveillance, and translational science, ensure our scientific and financial independence. Fundraising has always been central to our business model, and now accounts for almost a third of our income. It is thanks to support from our 200,000 generous donors and sponsors that our scientists are free to carry out research and exploratory work to address tomorrow's key scientific and public health issues.

Philanthropy has always been a central pillar of our business model: it now represents nearly a third of our revenue. It is thanks to the support of our generous donors and patrons that our scientists are free to research and explore to answer the major scientific and public health questions of tomorrow.

Modernizing our image to communicate more effectively with the public
Our approach celebrates the Institut Pasteur's unique scientific heritage while focusing resolutely on the modern world. In an increasingly competitive research landscape, the Institut Pasteur needs to modernize its communications to enhance its visibility and reach. This has led us to regularly publish accessible content tailored to non-specialists on our platforms and social media pages, while also overhauling visual elements including a new slogan:"Pour chaque vie, la science agit.*"

This reflects the basic truth that any attempt to tackle diseases must start with an investigation of microbes. We study over 160 pathogens in our laboratories, and harness our unique expertise, combining basic research and excellence in the field of microbiology, to elucidate transmission mechanisms, preparing us for health crises and helping us develop tomorrow's prevention tools.
A more people-focused approach encouraging closer relations
The Institut Pasteur believes it is vital to break down barriers separating science and society. By adopting a less formal tone and putting its scientists center stage, it is seeking to build relations with the public and encourage more deeply-rooted, committed support.

Broad principles of the new graphic identity
With this new visual identity, the Institut Pasteur is seeking to encapsulate the spirit of discovery and the essence of life. The graphic elements have been designed to be both inspiring and accessible, reflecting scientific rigor while also appealing to the emotions. We hope that the new logo, modernized fonts and revitalized color schemes highlight our commitment to "science as a unifying force".

Behind every life, there is a name, face and story that deserves the protection that science can offer.

Science as a unifying force
- We are urging you to take part in this human and scientific adventure that goes way beyond the confines of the laboratory.
- The Institut Pasteur has opted for this new brand identity to make science more accessible and people-focused.
- By reconnecting scientists, citizens and donors, we are providing the template for science as a unifying force, even in this age of distrust.
- By celebrating life in all its complexity, we hope to create a committed community eager to support research and contribute to building a better future.
