European Consortium for Zoonotic and Emerging Viruses - EURL-PH-ERZV

The Lyssavirus, Epidemiology and Neuropathology Research Unit, which includes the National reference center of Rabies and the WHO Collaborating Centre for Reference and Research on Rabies, is also a member of the Consortium of EU Public Health Reference Laboratories for emerging, rodent-borne and zoonotic viral pathogens.

Current activities

EURL-PH-ERZV activities include consortium coordination and management, communication and dissemination of information, provision of diagnostics and reference materials, external quality assessment (EQA), and training and twinning programmes. The consortium also provides support during epidemics and contributes to the preparation of technical reports.
