Accord-cadre entre le CNES et l’Institut Pasteur. L’espace au service de l’étude des épidémies

Monday 9 May at the Institut Pasteur in Paris, CNES President Jean-Yves Le Gall and the institute’s Director General Christian Bréchot signed a framework cooperation agreement on space serving epidemic research.

Building on their complementary competencies, the two organizations intend to work together to develop synergies in remote-sensing applications, in particular for tele epidemiology.

Their collaboration will focus on developing methods based on space technologies designed for the fields of environment, climate and health monitoring to assist tracking and control of infectious diseases.

The Institut Pasteur is dedicated to preventing and combating diseases, particularly infectious diseases, through research, teaching and public health actions. It is at the hub of an international network of 33 institutes in 26 countries on all five continents, through which it forges research partnerships with third-party organizations likely to help it accomplish its missions.

After signing the agreement, Jean-Yves Le Gall commented: “CNES is especially proud to have signed this framework cooperation agreement with the Institut Pasteur today. CNES is currently supporting a project that the Institut Pasteur is leading in French Guiana on dengue fever, based on a conceptual approach to tele-epidemiology. Space serving healthcare is a key mission of our agency through which we are pursuing an ambitious partnering policy that seeks to forge ties with research organizations, industry and the broader community of satellite service users.”
