The Faculty of Medicine, University of Szeged aims to give students the possibility to learn about other countries’ higher education and health care systems, and to ensure that the results of its teaching and research activities extend beyond Hungary’s borders. Our international relations encompass the fields of education, research and health care. The Faculty of Medicine, University of Szeged has a number of well-established bilateral agreements within the frame of the Erasmus Student Mobility Program (ESMP). Several bilateral agreements exist in the fields of research and development, scientific cooperation, and staff exchange. We have relations with a high number of foreign higher education institutions in various areas of cooperation.

 

The purpose of the University of Szeged is to issue quality degrees meeting labour market demands and that its graduate students would be sought both by national and international employers. The mission and purpose of the University of Szeged is to cultivate science and internationally competitive research work and to advance its research university nature.

 

This program allows students from the Faculty of Medicine, University of Szeged to spend 3 to 6 months in a laboratory at Institut Pasteur. Applicants are selected through a competitive call, based on the analysis of the CV and their work plan. In order to maximize their motivation selected trainees are allowed to choose their host centre.

 

Candidates are selected by the committee appointed by the Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, University of Szeged and can then apply to integrate a laboratory of their choice, among those that have submitted a research project. The traineeship lasts 6 months maximum.

 

STUDENTS

This call is reserved to full-time undergraduate students and PhD students at the Faculty of Medicine, University of Szeged who have completed successfully four semesters of their medical training.

 

CALLS AND SELECTIONS

Selections are carried out through a public call for applications based on competitive criteria and addressed to students from the Faculty of Medicine, University of Szeged, complying with the following requirements:

  • letter of motivation
  • CV
  • work plan
  • good command of English (B2)
  • certificate of enrolment

The applications are evaluated by the Committee on the basis of the following criteria: work plan; motivation letter; average marks of passed examination; knowledge of English; number of publications; Former national/international experience (Erasmus, etc).

 

PLACEMENT METHOD

Detailed research projects are requested in advance from the hosting laboratories.

The selected candidates receive the work programs offered by all the hosting institutions and are invited to express up to 2 preferences, well-motivated on the basis of their CV.

Their choices are satisfied on the basis of the candidates’ ranking but also evaluating the consistency between their preparation and the formative contents of the work program to be carried out in the host country on the one hand, and the compliance with specific requirements by the hosting centres on the other. The CVs are then submitted to the hosting centres, which are free to request further information, to interview potential trainees and to reject all applications if not satisfied.

After evaluation of the candidates, the host laboratories communicate their decision relative to the acceptance of the candidates to the Faculty of Medicine.

 

PROJECTS PRACTICAL SCHEDULE

Submission of projects by host laboratories

Submission of the projects proposals by the host laboratories not later than September 30th, 2016.

 

CANDIDATE SELECTION

The deadline for application is September 15, 2016, application materials are to be handed in by email tosasi-pokriva.eszter@med.u-stud.hu and one original copy to the Dean’s Office.

The acceptance of a candidate by the host laboratory should be confirmed through a formal letter (e-mail). After the acceptance, the tutor can plan with the trainee the start date of the traineeship, the logistic aspects, etc. Candidates selected are entitled for Erasmus status after providing the Erasmus application materials as well.

 

START AND DURATION OF THE PLACEMENTS

The training period will last 3 to 6 months, and can take place between January 2017 and September 2017. All traineeships will have to finish by September 30, 2017.
