Antibiotic resistance is considered by WHO to be "one of the most serious threats to global health, food security and development". In Cambodia, the misuse of antibiotics is a known phenomenon, but there is little data on microbial resistance in the absence of a surveillance system. A study by the Institut Pasteur du Cambodge assessed the frequency and characteristics of extended-spectrum beta-lactamase producing enterobacteria (ESBL¹) over a four-year period.

La résistance aux antibiotiques est considérée par l’OMS comme « l’une des plus graves menaces pesant sur la santé mondiale, la sécurité alimentaire et le développement ». Au Cambodge, le mauvais usage des antibiotiques est un phénomène connu mais on dispose de peu de données sur la résistance microbienne, en l’absence de système de surveillance.

Like every year since 2013, the Institut Pasteur organized on December 11th a ceremony in honor of the young graduates who defended their PhD thesis during the 2016-2017 academic year. The 2017 edition honored 34 young Pasteurian scientists, 5 of whom completed their thesis in an institution member of the Institut Pasteur International Network.

The 4-year research group (G4) led by Dr. Cheikh Loucoubar has officially joined H3ABioNet, the largest bioinformatics network on the African continent, as the new node for West Africa.

Le groupe de recherche à 4 ans (G4) dirigé par le Dr Cheikh Loucoubar vient officiellement de rejoindre H3ABioNet, le plus important réseau de bioinformatique du continent africain, en tant que nouveau node en de l’Afrique de l’ouest.

Although there is an effective vaccine, rabies is still present in over 150 countries worldwide. The countries of the Middle East and Central Asia are particularly affected by this viral disease, including Iran where rabies is endemic.
