PRINCIPAUX THEMES DE RECHERCHE DU CNR

La Recherche s’effectue en s’appuyant sur les données et le matériel biologique recueillis dans le cadre du CNR.
L’activité de recherche est décrite dans le rapport annuel d’activité. Elle est complémentaire de l’activité de recherche de l’unité Biodiversité et épidémiologie des bactéries pathogènes à laquelle le CNR est rattaché. 
 
Projet de recherche : PER-SEVERE
La coqueluche est une maladie respiratoire causée par une bactérie (Bordetella pertussis) qui peut, dans certains cas et notamment chez les nourrissons, être sévère voire mortelle (on parle alors de coqueluche maligne). L’objectif de ce projet de recherche, mené par le Dr Julie Toubiana en collaboration avec plusieurs centres hospitaliers français, est d’identifier les facteurs et les mécanismes qui conduisent à une coqueluche maligne.
Votre enfant a été hospitalisé quand il était nourrisson, pour une coqueluche dans l’un des centres hospitaliers qui collaborent avec l’Institut Pasteur dans le cadre de ce projet. Lors de son hospitalisation, un prélèvement a été effectué dans le nez de votre nourrisson (on parle d’un écouvillonnage ou d'une aspiration nasopharyngée) pour rechercher la présence et isoler la bactérie à l’origine de la coqueluche. Pour confirmer le diagnostic de coqueluche, une partie de cet échantillon a été transmise au Centre National de Référence de la Coqueluche et autres Bordetelloses, puis mise en culture pour isoler la bactérie responsable, dans le cadre de la mission de santé publique de ce CNR.
Pour ce projet, nous souhaitons travailler sur la bactérie isolée de l'échantillon de votre enfant et conservée au CNR, et aussi utiliser des données de santé collectées par l’équipe médicale lors de sa prise en charge médicale (données contenues dans le dossier médical de votre enfant).
