Description
The objective of this course is to provide healthcare professionals, students in healthcare fields, and researchers working in the health sector with the theoretical and practical foundations required to design clinical trials that meet international quality standards.
Students will be introduced to the methodology of conventional trials (superiority and non-inferiority) as well as pragmatic, community-based, and adaptive trials—covering the entire process from design to the analysis of results.
Students will also learn how to read and interpret clinical trial reports and their published findings.
By the end of the course, participants will be able to:
• Describe the core methodological principles of clinical trials.
• Define the specific characteristics of clinical trials conducted in resource-limited settings.
• Identify the appropriate methodology based on the purpose of the trial (explanatory, pragmatic, community-based, etc.).
• Understand the practical aspects involved in setting up and managing clinical trials.
• Contribute to the development of clinical trials that adhere to established methodological and ethical criteria.
The final assessment consists of an examination.
Applications are evaluated by the Course Committee.
