Senior Executive Division

The Senior Executive Division, led by Alban Hautier, contributes to the smooth running of the Institut Pasteur, particularly with regard to administrative and financial matters and issues relating to the scientific environment (buildings, IT). It also helps ensure that requirements relating to risk management and compliance are met.

Scientific Affairs Division

Patrick Trieu-Cuot - Unité de Recherche Biologie des Bactéries pathogènes à Gram-positif

The Scientific Affairs Division, headed by Patrick Trieu-Cuot, supports all the Institut Pasteur's scientists in their endeavors to make discoveries and meet their commitment of providing solutions to the multiple health problems facing our society. It guides the Institut Pasteur's scientific priorities, recruits new talent, supports ambitious projects fostering collaboration and interdisciplinarity, provides state-of-the-art technologies, and promotes links including those between basic research, translational research and public health.

Department of Applications of Research and Relations with Industrials (DARRI)

The Department of Applications of Research and Relations with Industrials, led by Isabelle Buckle, is responsible for the Institut Pasteur’s fourth mission – innovation development and technology transfer.

The DARRI identifies scientific projects with high innovation potential and supports them through the innovation process of protection, acceleration, maturation and development to enable the commercialization of innovative health products and services developed from academic research through industrial partnerships, licenses or the launch of startups. It works with industry partners throughout the world to fully capitalize on the Institut Pasteur's research and innovation potential. 

Department of Communications and Public Affairs

Henri Pitron, directeur de la communication de l'Institut Pasteur depuis le 1er décembre 2022.

The Department of Communications and Public Affairs, led by Henri Pitron, is tasked with boosting the Institut Pasteur's influence both in France and throughout the world, promoting our work among the public and specialists and championing the foundation's interests in dealings with the public authorities. It also helps encourage engagement within the Institut Pasteur community through internal communication campaigns addressing staff concerns and rallying teams around a shared vision. Lastly, the Department of Communications and Public Affairs manages operations at the Institut Pasteur Conference Center and Museum.

Department of Philanthropy

Antoine Bogaerts, directeur de la philanthropie à l'Institut Pasteur.

The Department of Philanthropy, led by Antoine Bogaerts, is responsible for private fundraising from individual donors, companies and foundations both in France and around the world, with almost a third of the Institut Pasteur's funding sourced from public donations and gifts.

International Affairs Department

Dr.Odette Tomescu-Hatto, directrice des Affaires internationales de l’Institut Pasteur.

The International Affairs Department, led by Odette Tomescu-Hatto, develops and promotes work carried out by the Institut Pasteur around the world, both in its own right and as a member of the Pasteur Network.

Its remit is to:

  • propose an international strategy for the Institut Pasteur for approval by the senior management team and the Board of Governors;
  • implement this strategy in close collaboration with the Scientific Affairs Department, the scientific community, and with support from the Institut Pasteur's various departments and divisions;
  • provide a focal point for interactions with international, supranational, governmental and other types of bodies to support public and global health policies.

Legal Affairs Department

The role of the Legal Affairs Department, headed by Antoine Lekieffre, is to offer guidance to all research units, operational departments, and the senior management team. 

It legally safeguards the Institut Pasteur's interests in all its mission areas – research, public health, education and research applications – and in its articles of association.

Department of Corporate Social Responsibility and Technical Resources

The Department of Corporate Social Responsibility and Technical Resources, led by Nathalie Denoyés, has a dual role. First, it ensures that scientific staff enjoy the best possible working conditions, thus contributing to research excellence at the Institut Pasteur. Second, it is responsible for honoring commitments made by senior management on sustainable development, particularly those aimed at reducing the environmental impact of our foundation's work.

Financial Affairs Department

Françoise Perriolat - Directrice financière à l'Institut Pasteur.

The Financial Affairs Department, led by Françoise Perriolat, is responsible for preparing projected financial statements (medium-term plan, budget), managing the Institut Pasteur's assets, and preparing its annual financial statements. 

It plays a key role in financially managing the budget and technology and real-estate investment projects. It ensures that resource requirements are properly funded in the short, medium and long term and also recommends and implements the funding policy. The Financial Affairs Department is also involved in applying corporate social responsibility (CSR) criteria to decision-making in relation to investments and procurement.

Medical Department

The Medical Department, led by Jean-Michel Molina, oversees the Institut Pasteur's medical and public health work. It provides operational support for biomedical research projects involving Institut Pasteur teams, in close collaboration with the Institut Pasteur Biological Resource Center (CRBIP), the Legal Affairs Department and the Department of Applications of Research and Relations with Industrials (DARRI). It also coordinates the work of the National Reference Centers (CNRs).

Information Systems Department

Stéphane Fournier, DSI

The Information Systems Department, led by Stéphane Fournier, performs the following roles: 

  • proposing initiatives aimed at improving the quality and impact of scientific work, while also contributing to a more open, collaborative and innovative research environment;
  • ensuring the security of IT infrastructure and research data; 
  • proposing dedicated, ultra-high-performance storage solutions to meet scientists' growing data processing and management needs.

Department of Technology

Michaël Nilges, responsable de l'unité de Bioinformatique structurale.

The Department of Technology, led by Michael Nilges, seeks to foster a state-of-the-art technological environment and leverage the Institut Pasteur's research excellence. It is responsible for the Institut Pasteur's equipment policy and also assesses annual equipment requests made by the various research entities.

It also manages awards of renewal grants, a mechanism enabling faulty, irreparable equipment to be replaced quickly. In addition to this, it coordinates Institut Pasteur departments' work on some infrastructure development programs.

 

Direction des ressources humaines

Dirigée par Florence Clauzure, la direction des ressources humaines assure la mise en place du plan stratégique de l’Institut Pasteur en élaborant et en mettant en œuvre une politique ressources humaines moderne, adaptée aux besoins du campus, répondant aux enjeux de la Commission Européenne et favorisant l’attractivité de notre institut.

Elle vise à développer un environnement de travail collaboratif et attractif, permettant de toujours mieux travailler ensemble et de responsabiliser chacun.

Department of Education

Monica Sala, directrice déléguée à l'Enseignement de l'Institut Pasteur de Paris depuis le 2 janvier 2015.

The Department of Education, led by Monica Sala, performs the following roles:

  • organizing and developing high-quality courses related to research and public health;
  • developing online learning;
  • optimizing relations with partner universities;
  • strengthening the international visibility of Institut Pasteur courses and MOOCs;
  • developing predoctoral programs;
  • supervising PhD students through a dedicated unit (academic support, international doctoral programs, tutoring) and the Student Life Office (training, accommodation and Master's programs);
  • rolling out courses and training programs worldwide.

 

Department for Diversity, Equity and Inclusion

The Department for Diversity, Equity and Inclusion, led by Mariana Mesel-Lemoine, devises innovative measures to promote an inclusive working environment in which each and everyone can make a full contribution to scientific progress for the benefit of health. 

It guides changes in internal working methods and provides support with the cultural shift entailed by such changes. 

Finally, it cooperates closely with all departments and Employee Resource Groups to promote the Institut Pasteur's DEI commitment among its partners, including the Pasteur Network.

Scientific Careers and Assessment Department

Didier Mazel, responsable de l'unité de Plasticité du Génome bacterien et Directeur des Carrières et de l'Evaluation Scientifiques (DCES) à l'Institut Pasteur.

The Scientific Careers and Assessment Department, led by Didier Mazel, implements assessment processes for research entities and senior research staff and adapts them to different contexts.

Its remit is to:

  • organize the assessment of scientific proposals by research entities (G5s, U5s and U10s) and the mid-term assessment of U10s;
  • organize the two-yearly assessment of senior scientific staff at the Institut Pasteur and the promotion and/or recruitment of these staff;
  • help to put forward research by Institut Pasteur scientists for prestigious scientific awards and manage the allocation of Institut Pasteur awards;
  • organize movements of permanent scientific staff (assignments, internal and external transfers, resignations, retirement, etc.);
  • manage opportunities for hosting scientists from external research organizations (OREX);
  • help to manage the careers and skills of senior research staff. 

Department for Internal Audit and Control

The Department for Internal Audit and Control, led by Éric Laclide, helps strengthen the Institut Pasteur's overall risk management capabilities. Its three main roles are:

  • leading the risk mapping process; 
  • consolidating existing internal control mechanisms; 
  • drawing up annual internal audit plans to be submitted to the Board of Governors, carrying out these audits and monitoring action plans.

Delegate for Safety and Security (DSSu)

Romain Girod, Délégué à la sécurité et à la sûreté.

The Delegate for Safety and Security, Romain Girod, ensures that French national regulations governing the security and protection of national scientific and technical potential are applied at the Institut Pasteur.

The DSSu is also assigned duties as a Security and Defense Official. As such, he liaises with government authorities and, in particular, the office of the Senior Defense and Security Official and the French Ministry of Higher Education and Research. The DSSu works with the Head of Information Systems Security and the Head of the Security Department to help ensure the security of people and property.
