The Institut Pasteur today
Science must serve humanity: this conviction takes shape every day through our four major missions of public interest—research, education, medicine and public health surveillance, and innovation—carried out by nearly 3,000 men and women on our Paris campus, alongside our colleagues in the Pasteur Network.
Our governance structure, centered around a President, a Board of Directors, a Scientific Council, and specialized departments, ensures rigor, independence, and the ability to adapt to the scientific and public health challenges of our time.
Notre statut de fondation reconnue d’utilité publique, financée à plus d'un tiers par la générosité du public, nous impose transparence et exemplarité : nous les assumons pleinement, à travers un contrôle indépendant rigoureux et le label Don en Confiance.
As a foundation recognized as a public-benefit organization—with more than one-third of our funding coming from public donations—we are committed to transparency and setting an example: we fully uphold these principles through rigorous independent oversight and the “Don en Confiance” certification (Trustworthy Donation).
True to the humanistic legacy of our founder, Louis Pasteur, we are firmly committed to addressing the major challenges of our time: promoting research and defending science, the ecological transition and carbon neutrality by 2050, gender equality in the workplace (score of 99/100), diversity and inclusion—including the creation, starting in 2024, of the first DEI department within a national research institution—open science, and scientific ethics and integrity.

Our governance
The governance of the Institut Pasteur combines rigorous management and the ability to adapt quickly in response to scientific and health challenges.
Our management team
The President is assisted by a Senior Executive Vice-President responsible for administrative and financial matters and by the other members of the senior management team. Our Executive Committee is made up of directors who, every day, lead, coordinate, and drive progress on our foundation's key missions.
Our funding and spending
The Institut Pasteur is a private foundation with officially recognized charitable status whose funding comes from a diverse and balanced range of mostly private sources. This guarantees our independence and capacity to advance science for the benefit of public health.
The "Pasteur 2030" Strategic Plan
The Institut Pasteur draws on all its resources to face a growing range of health risks, including infectious diseases, antimicrobial resistance, aging, climate disruption and neurodegenerative diseases.
Our global impact figures
Scientific excellence is a core tenet of our ecosystem: behind every figure, there are passionate people who share this commitment in their daily mission to improve public health.
