Will artificial intelligence revolutionize vaccine design?

The answer is already yes, to some extent. During the development of the COVID-19 vaccine, AI algorithms played a key role. AlphaFold, for example, can predict the 3D structure of molecules and anticipate how a vaccine will react in the body, even before it is tested in the lab.

The most spectacular contribution? The analysis of clinical trial data. A task that takes a team of researchers several years to complete can be done in just a few hours by AI.

However, two conditions remain essential: reliable, verified databases, and a human review to validate the results. It’s a powerful tool, not an oracle.
