Our mission

The Institut Pasteur Technology Transfer and Industrial Partnership Department has generated close to 700 million euros in revenue over the last 15 years.
The aim is to boost an open approach to future industry partners, from startups to major groups, to adapt more efficiently to the current and future requirements of society.

The Technology Transfer and Industrial Partnership Department's mission is to identify projects with high development potential and accelerate their transfer to the economic world, through collaborations with industrial partners, licenses or the creation of startups.

Our organization

The Technology Transfer and Industrial Partnership Department helps researchers and industrial partners, from the scientific discovery to the exploitation and implementation of the invention. To achieve this, five offices are available to process and transfer future innovations:

  • Detection, Financing of Innovation & Entrepreneurship Office
  • Patents & Inventions Office
  • Development of Innovation Office
  • Technology Transfer Office
  • Industrial Agreements-Post contract & Strategic Alliance Office.

Our ambition

Developing research applications is one of the objectives of the new Institut Pasteur 2019/2023 strategic plan, whose goal is to give new impetus to basic research and increase its impact on health issues.

By helping our scientists to turn their excellent sciences and ideas into applications and innovative products and services, we want to make healthcare available for everyone and everywhere in the world. Technology transfer and the development of industrial partnerships boost funding for new projects and benefit public health.

Dr Isabelle Buckle, Executive VP Technology Transfer and Industrial Partnership

Specific measures have been introduced to boost the capacity to develop interactions with industry partners, including financial incentives, placing technology transfer amongst the performance assessment criteria for scientists, and most notably, the establishment of the Consultative Innovation Committee and the Accelerator (lien à renseigner plus tard) of Innovation:

  • The Consultative Innovation Committee is composed of internal experts in both scientific and industrial research. It contributes to technical expertise that allows the Institut Pasteur to look at research projects not only in terms of scientific interest, but also in terms of industrial feasibility and potential market value.
  • Tthe Accelerator of Innovation  (lien à renseigner plus tard) created in 2019 at the Institut Pasteur must bridge the technological development gap that exists today on the road towards the licencing and commercialiation of new scientific discoveries. By combining financing strategies, industrial technical support and business expertise, the Accelerator of Innovation will allow promising innovations to move efficiently from the laboratory to the commercial domain.
