The agreements to create the first 3 Pasteur International Joint research units within the Network were signed.

One unit is created with the Institut Pasteur in Shanghai on parasitology jointly directed by Gérald Spaeth (Head Molecular Parasitology and Signaling Laboratory, Institut Pasteur) and Guangxun Meng (Research Director of Innate Immunity unit, Institut Pasteur in Shanghai)

The second one will be with Institut Pasteur in Cambodia on Malaria jointly directed by Jean-Christophe Barale (Head of Malaria targets and Antimalarials Group, Institut Pasteur in Paris) and Didier Menard (Head of the Malaria Molecular Epidemiology Unit, Institut Pasteur in Cambodia)

And the third with Institut Pasteur in Montevideo on Leptospirosis under the supervision of Alejandro Buschiazzo (Heads the Proteins Crystallography Unit, Institut Pasteur in Montevideo) and Mathieu Picardeau (Head of Department of Microbiology Laboratory, Institut Pasteur in Paris)

These virtual units will reinforce the links between the researchers of both institute, facilitate scientific interactions, mobility and act as a leverage effect for more applications to international grants on these strategic topics.

The creation of Pasteur international joint units is part of the actions initiated to Reinforce the Institut Pasteur International Network as a global community and contribute to its international visibility.
