A Franco-Chinese scientific symposium on infectious diseases at the Institut Pasteur. The Institut Pasteur welcomed on Friday, July 1st a large delegation of Chinese scientists and officials including the Vice President of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), Prof Tan Tieniu.

The visit, which took place in the context of the Franco-Chinese high-level dialogue on human and cultural exchanges, was an opportunity to organize a symposium on emerging infectious diseases. This symposium helped to promote exchanges and the emergence of scientific projects between Chinese and French researchers in particular linked to the P4 laboratory of Wuhan.

For this purpose, more than 20 researchers from the Wuhan Institute of Virology, the Institut Pasteur in Shanghai, the Institut Pasteur, the CNRS, the Inserm and the University of Aix Marseille were invited to present their work. The event was also marked by the joint announcement of the Institut Pasteur and the Fondation Mérieux, of the creation a 4-years group to support the joint research laboratory which is being set up between the Institut Pasteur in Shanghai and the Wuhan Institute of virology. It was also an opportunity to sign a new agreement with the CAS on the Institut Pasteur in Shanghai strategy for the coming years.
