Our Ecosystem and Partnerships
An institute with a global outlook dedicated to global health
The Institut Pasteur's international work is carried out within the specific public health, scientific, and institutional contexts of each region (Europe, Africa, the Middle East, the Americas, and Asia-Pacific). Europe, in particular, is at the heart of the Institute’s priorities, as it is convinced that the public health challenges of the 21st century can only be addressed on the scale of a united and ambitious continent. The Institut Pasteur also draws on a network of partnerships and alliances with leading institutions and organizations in every region of the world.
The Pasteur Network
The Institut Pasteur, a founding member of the Pasteur Network, is at the heart of a scientific alliance that is unparalleled worldwide. Bringing together more than 30 members across 25 countries on five continents, the Pasteur Network plays a crucial role in addressing global health challenges through science, innovation, and public health. Its strength lies in its diversity and its ability to mobilize scientific and technical resources across a wide range of ecosystems: more than 50 national reference laboratories, several high-security laboratories, and 17 World Health Organization (WHO) collaborating centers, all ready to respond to emerging health threats.
Our Academic and Institutional Partnerships
Deeply rooted in the French and international scientific community, the Institut Pasteur fosters close collaborations with major research organizations, universities in the Île-de-France region (often called the Paris Region), hospitals, and French, European, and international funding agencies. Nearly a quarter of the scientists on the Institute’s campus are affiliated with partner institutions—including the CNRS, Inserm, INRAE, Inria, Université Paris Cité, AP-HP, and many others. These collaborations make the campus a unique environment where basic, academic, and clinical research mutually enrich one another, all in the service of human health. The Institut Pasteur thus forges institutional partnerships with numerous organizations and universities in France and around the world. One of the objectives of the Pasteur 2030 strategic plan is to strengthen coordination with stakeholders in research and healthcare.
