Institut Pasteur in Cambodia: Awards for Vincent Deubel and Kruy Sun Lay

On September 26th, the Minister of Health in Cambodia, M. Mam Bun Heng has awarded the “Royal Order of Sahametrei Class Commander” to Prof. Vincent Deubel, Director of Institut Pasteur in Cambodia and the “Royal Order of Monisaraphon Class Commander” to Prof. Kruy Sun Lay, Deputy Director.

The ceremony was graced with the presence of the French Ambassador in Cambodia, H.E. Jean-Claude Poimboeuf, the State Minister, M. Yim Nolla, the Secretary of State M. Eng Huot, and representatives from the Ministry of Health and the University of Health Sciences.

“On behalf of the Ministry of Health and that of the Cambodian people and on my own behalf, I express my congratulations and my sincere thanks to Prof. Vincent Deubel for having contributed immensely to the development of health security, especially in improving the quality and the efficiency in terms of prevention and diagnosis of harmful infectious diseases […] In five years he has been actively committed to fulfill his duties as Diretor in a humanitarian spirit, with intelligence and skill, making the Institut Pasteur in Cambodia had both technical and structural remarkable development" said M. Mam Bun Heng.

The Royal Order of Sahametrei is a medal presented by the government of the Kingdom of Cambodia by Royal Decree of the King of Cambodia. It is conferred primarily on foreigners who have rendered distinguished services to the King and to the people of Cambodia, particularly in the field of external relations and diplomatic services or, as a token of friendship.

The Order of Monisaraphon is awarded for services in the fields of literature and the fine arts, education, justice, administration, and science.
