Cette découverte devrait permettre de préciser le rôle de l’inflammation dans les maladies neurodégénératives, révélant potentiellement de nouvelles cibles thérapeutiques.

On June 8, 2023, AVATAR MEDICAL, a spin-off of the Institut Pasteur and Institut Curie, both granted with the Carnot Label, received 510(k) clearance from the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for its virtual reality surgical planning solution. AVATAR MEDICAL instantly converts CT scans and MRI images into patient avatars, detailed 3D and virtual reality (VR) representations of the patient's medical images. FDA clearance is a major milestone for this innovative spin-off, which can now market its solution in the United States. CEO Xavier Wartelle expects European certification for 2024.

The Institut Pasteur and ESCP Business School in Paris have developed a new online program for learners preparing to enter the demanding ecosystem of healthcare entrepreneurship. Led by professors Frédéric Jallat (ESCP) and Dominique Franco (Institut Pasteur), this high-level course, taught in English, offers the keys to achieving success in innovation. It includes contributions from international experts in the field and offers access to a global network of professionals.

L’Institut Pasteur annonce la création de l’unité internationale Pasteur « Vésicules extracellulaires fongiques », en collaboration avec la Fondation FioCruz - Oswaldo Cruz (Brésil) et l’Université de Birmingham (Royaume-Uni). Les unités mixtes de recherche internationales Pasteur sont créées conjointement avec deux ou plusieurs équipes de recherche, travaillant ensemble au sein du Pasteur Network.

Forty years after the identification of the AIDS virus (HIV), the Institut Pasteur honored Françoise Barré-Sinoussi, co-discoverer of HIV with Prof. Luc Montagnier in 1983, both Nobel Prize winners in 2008. Through this exceptional researcher, we celebrated the commitment and fight for life of all players involved in the fight against HIV-AIDS. A short film retracing the 40 years that separate us from this great scientific breakthrough will be broadcasted in cinemas across France, and on social networks, starting from June 7.

AVATAR MEDICAL convertit instantanément les Scanners et IRM en avatars de patients, représentations détaillées en 3D et en réalité virtuelle (RV) des images médicales du patient. Avec la certification FDA, c’est une étape majeure de franchie pour cette spin-off innovante, qui peut désormais commercialiser sa solution aux Etats-Unis. Xavier Wartelle, président directeur général, espère une certification européenne pour l'année 2024.

Quarante ans après l’identification du virus du sida (VIH), l’Institut Pasteur a mis à l’honneur Françoise Barré-Sinoussi, co-découvreuse du VIH avec le Pr Luc Montagnier en 1983, tous deux prix Nobel en 2008. À travers cette chercheuse exceptionnelle, c’est l’engagement et le combat pour la vie de tous les acteurs de la lutte contre le VIH-sida qui ont été célébrés. Un court film retraçant les 40 ans qui nous séparent de cette grande avancée scientifique sera diffusée dans des salles de cinéma en France et sur les réseaux sociaux, à partir du 7 juin.

From June 26 to 29, 2023, The Hellenic Pasteur Institute, member of the Pasteur Network, is organizing a workshop on technology transfer in biological sciences and public health. Targeting young researchers from all over the world, it will offer an opportunity to immerse in the innovation ecosystem. Some members of Institut Pasteur's Technology Transfer and Industrial Partnership Department (DARRI) will share their expertise.

The European project DURABLE, led by the Institut Pasteur, has been launched in February, 2023. DURABLE means Delivering a Unified Research Alliance of Biomedical and public health Laboratories against Epidemics. It is a network whose main objective is to develop a one-stop shop for emerging disease laboratory preparedness. This 4-year large-scale project will help to build stronger, more resilient and more accessible health systems.
