Five major themes were at the core of 2022 research advances: emerging infectious diseases, antimicrobial resistance, brain connectivity and neurodegenerative diseases, cancer, vaccinology and immunotherapy. They have honored Institut Pasteur's 2019-2023 strategic plan.

Une étude menée au Cameroun a porté sur les virus intestinaux chez les êtres humains et certains grands singes. Ces virus partagent les mêmes génomes. Ce « partage » serait dû à la chasse, à la consommation de viande et au pillage par les grands singes. Ces résultats confirment l’importance des transmissions de pathogènes entre humains et animaux, qui menacent parfois la santé humaine et la santé animale.

Les 18 et 19 octobre 2023, se tiendront les Rendez-Vous Carnot au Centre de Congrès à Lyon. C’est un évènement privilégié pour la rencontre des entreprises avec les organismes de R&D labellisés Carnot, et pour initier des partenariats. The licensing agreement signed in 2022 between Institut Pasteur and Meletios Therapeutics, a French biotechnology company specialised in the research and development of next-generation antiviral treatments, concerns a cutting-edge technological platform for generating Defective Viral Genomes (DVGs) for the development of a new class of antivirals.

L’accord de licence conclu en 2022 entre l’Institut Pasteur et Meletios Therapeutics, société de biotechnologie française spécialisée dans la recherche et le développement de traitements antiviraux de nouvelle génération, porte sur une plateforme technologique de pointe, permettant de générer des Génomes Viraux Défectueux ou DVG (Defective Viral Genomes) pour le développement d’une nouvelle classe d’antiviraux.

Scientists at the Hearing Institute, an Institut Pasteur Center, have established the full picture of therapeutic avenues for certain types of hearing impairments. They focused on so-called sensorineural deficiencies, caused by an anomaly in the inner ear or auditory nerve. Over the past 10 years, preclinical gene therapy studies have shown promising results. This research, aimed at restoring hearing, will persevere and expedite its progress to provide curative treatment to patient patients in the near future with the new Institut Hospitalo-Universitaire (IHU) supported by the Hearing Institute and hosted by the Institut Pasteur.

Des scientifiques de l’Institut de l’Audition, centre de l’Institut Pasteur, ont dressé un état des lieux des espoirs thérapeutiques pour certaines déficiences auditives. Ils se sont penchés sur les déficiences dites neurosensorielles, causées par une anomalie au niveau de l’oreille interne ou du nerf auditif. Depuis 10 ans, des études précliniques de thérapie génique ont montré des résultats prometteurs. Ces recherches visant à restaurer l’audition vont se poursuivre et s’accélérer au plus près des patients concernés, avec le nouvel Institut Hospitalo-Universitaire (IHU) porté par l’Institut de l’Audition et hébergé par l’Institut Pasteur.

Malaria is a disease transmitted by mosquitoes that are vectors of parasites in the genus Plasmodium. Scientists from the Institut Pasteur, in collaboration with specialized physicists in Brazil and Germany, have elucidated the search strategy used by parasites to reach the bloodstream.
