This course, consisting of three one-week modules that can be followed separately, presents the principles and use of the Stata software to perform statistical analyses (comparison of categorical and continuous variables, logistic regression and survival analysis) on biomedical databases.

Each of the three 5-day full-time sessions is organized in a theoretical part, in the morning, supplemented by tutorials, in the afternoon, to work individually on concrete cases with the Stata software.

Session 1: Stata Commands and Univariate Tests

Statistical tests to compare continuous and discrete variables between two or more groups; calculation of the sample size.

Session 2: Logistic regression

Analyze a database and build a logistic regression model; consideration of confounding factors; taking into account interactions; model construction.

Session 3 : Analyse de survie et modèle de Cox

Perform survival analysis (Kaplan-Meier non-parametric methods, Cox model, parametric models).

The syllabus for the previous year can be downloaded for detailed information on the course organization; some conferences and practical work are likely to change from one year to another, without altering the objectives and means implemented in the course.


Candidates must have Cesam or equivalent. Applications are evaluated by the Course Committee.
