The EPD systems display a unique organization made of an N-terminal ABC domain fused to a C-terminal IM domain (ABC-IM). Two subfamilies could be distinguished on the basis of sequence similarity. The WHITE family is comprised of systems with and ABC-IM organization while the PDR family contains systems with an (ABC-IM)2 organization.
