Inoculation sur cultures de tissus le 10 Mars 1969.
IDENTIFICATION :
En fixation du complément, cette souche a été reconnue comme différente de tous les virus auxquels elle a été comparée.
Le sérum hyperimmun sur souris et les ascites immunes préparés avec le virus Lassa réagissent à faible titre, mais de façon reproductible, avec le virus Lassa et le virus de la Chorio Méningite Lymphocytaire (S BUCKLEY, 1970), ainsi qu'avec quelques antigènes du groupe Tacaribe.

Humaine : Fièvre, prostration, conjonctivite, myalgie, signes d'encéphalite, atteinte du systeme nerveux central, signes hémorragiques, leucopénie, lymphadénopathie.
REMARQUE : Le virus Lassa est considéré comme virus très dangereux à manipuler en laboratoire. Sa culture sur cellules Vero est la méthode de choix pour l'isoler et réaliser un test de neutralisation.
