Isolé par AB SABIN, Child Hospital Res. Fdn, Cincinati (USA), à partir du sérum prélevé sur homme adulte présentant une symptomatologie fébrile, sous la référence Sabin.
Prélevement effectué le 13 Juillet 1944.
Lieu de collecte : Naples (Italie), 40° 50' N, 14° 12' E.
Milieu : Cantonnement de troupes américaines pendant la seconde guerre mondiale au cours d'une épidémie de maladie fébrile.
ISOLEMENT :
Inoculation sous cutanée sur hommes le 18 Décembre 1944.
IDENTIFICATION :
Cette souche a été reconnue comme différente de tous les virus auxquels elle a été comparée.
Une comparaison en inhibition d'hémagglutination avec d'autres virus du groupe phlebotomus a été effectuée par R TESH (1975) :
