ORIGINE :

Isolé par JP DIGOUTTE et R. CORDELLIER, à partir d'un lot de Mansonia africana, sous la référence Ar B 1976.

Prélevement effectué 12/13 Juin 1969.

Lieu de collecte : Basamba (RCA): 03° 40' N, 18° 32' E.

Milieu : Forêt équatoriele humide, au bord de la rivière Lobaye à côté du village de Zinga

ISOLEMENT :

Inoculation intra cérébrale sur souriceaux nouveau né le 1 Juillet 1969.

IDENTIFICATION :

Voir les réactions croisées du CRORA.

Cette souche a été reconnue comme très voisine sinon identique au virus de la fièvre de la vallée du Rift (J.M. MEEGAN et coll. , 1983)

Isolé par DAUBNEY et coll. (Vet. Res. Lab., Kabete, Kenya), à partir d'un agneau nouveau né.

Prélevement effectué le 27 Juillet 1930.

Lieu de collecte : Nord du lac Naivasha (Kenya): 00° 44' N, 36° 26' E.

Milieu : Savanne tropicale d'altitude.

ISOLEMENT :

Inoculation intra veineuse sur mouton le 28 Juillet 1930, d'autres souches ont été identifiées à partir de prélevements effectués au cours de la même épizootie.

IDENTIFICATION :

Différent des autres virus auxquels il a été comparé et rattaché aux Phlébovirus (R.E. SHOPE et coll., 1980). Cette souche n'existe pas au CRORA, ou il est utilisé la souche Zinga, reconnue comme identique à RVF (MEEGAN, 1983).

MALADIE :

Humaine : Fièvre, Céphalée, Hyperhémie conjonctivale, Myalgie, Arthralgie, Ictère, Hémorragies, atteintes neurologiques tardives (amauroses).

Animale : Fièvre et avortements (Bétail).

HOTES OU VECTEURS :

Homme

Mammifères : Bovins, Caprins, Ovins

Moustiques : Aedes caballus, Aedes circumluteolus, Culex theileri, Eretmapodites groupe chrysogaster.

Autres insectes : Culicoides spp.
