ORIGINE :

Isolé par AB SABIN, Cincinnati (Ohio), à partir d'un pool réalisé avec les prélèvements sanguins effectués sur 6 patients au cours d'une épidémie de Dengue à Hawaii, sous la référence Hawaii.

Prélevements effectués du 9 au 27 Février 1944.

Lieu de collecte : Hawaii (USA), 21° N, 155° W.

ISOLEMENT :

Inoculation sous cutanée à 6 volontaires humains, le 23 Mars 1944, à Cincinnati (Ohio). Passage effectué sur Aedes aegypti.

IDENTIFICATION :

Cette souche a été reconnue comme différente de tous les flavivirus auxquels elle a été comparée. Avec les trois autres types de dengue, cet ensemble forme un sous groupe au sein du groupe B.

MALADIE :

Humaine : maladie fébrile avec rash, fièvre hémorragique.
