Species assignations of this data set are somewhat conflictual with some strain list. This is, in most part, due to collections heterogeneity all over the world (serovar concept sometimes rather difficult to be applied, part of subjectivity in its interpretation...).

Examples:

  • Serovars tonkini, kanana and kisuba considered as belonging to L. interrogans in this study, are assigned by Brenner and Kauffman to L. borgpetersenii.
  • Serovars carimagua, argentiniensis, bajan, claytoni, huallaga, proechymis and huanuco were assigned by Brenner and Kauffman to L. noguchii species.
  • 17 other examples of discrepancy are obvious.

    Strains from CDC are currently being to be imported in Paris and will be compared to our own by both ribotyping and Pulsed Field Gel Electrophoresis to tentatively solve this difficulties.
