The 2012 PPU Retreat in St-Malo

Col1

The 2012 PPU retreat was organized by the  Monod Class Students. It was held in Brittany, in the town of St-Malo.
Students presented their projects in small-talk format to their peers as well as to Faculty. The class Patron was the theme of the guest speaker, Dr Gilles Marchal.
It was also a great occasion for students and faculty to discuss in an informal setting and to enjoy the great seafood, and visit of historic St-Malo.

Workshop on the Institut Pasteur International Network

On Nov 7th 2011, the PPU organized as part of its training program, a workshop on Global Health & The Institut Pasteur  international network.
The program included a keynote lecture by Pr. Arthur Kleinman, Harvard University (USA), on challenges and solutions of global health issues.

After this introduction, the International  Institut Pasteur Network was addressed at two levels. The first part was from a historic perspective,
with a presentation given by Pr. Anne-Marie Moulin, CNRS, in which she restituted the context and challenges of early pioneering work by Institut Pasteur
scientists in foreign countries. In the second session, an overview given by Dr. Salomon, head of the International Department of Institut Pasteur, Paris,
who emphasized the density and variety of the research centers around the globe . The following presentations by Dr. Roberto Bruzzone, Director of
IP Hong Kong, gave insights into the management of an international research center with scientific, strategic and financial perspectives. Finally Dr. Sara Eyangoh
of the Centre Pasteur of Cameroon highlighted the ongoing research progress on the Buruli ulcer, with a special mention of the impact of stigmatization, hence the
social impact of the disease and the role of the scientist in the field.

Fianly, students and speakers gathered around some refreshments to exchange point of views and questions.
Ethics Workshop 2011 PPU

Canetti breakfast

The PPU program and the Museum of the Institut Pasteur organized a breakfast to introduce the Canetti class to Mrs Canetti in November 2011.
This event was an opportunity for the students to learn about the accomplishments of the Canetti family in the Arts and Sciences, and its commitment supporting bright
students at the beginning of their career.

Faculty members of the Institut Pasteur, who were recipients of the Canetti prize for research linked to Tuberculosis, also joined the event to discuss with the
students.

Retreat 2011

The second retreat of the PPU was held from the 12th-thru the 13th of May 2011, at Trouville, Calvados.
Students learned about their Class "Patron". This year the focus was on Jacques Monod, Nobel laureate for the co-discovery of the Lac Operon.
