Candidates must have a good knowledge of genetics, molecular biology and biochemistry, equivalent to a Master level.
This course will be taught in French.
The specificity of the course consists in combining bench practical work with an in-depth in silico analysis of genomics data.
Lectures will address the fundamental aspects of genomics (structure and comparison of genomes, human genomics, transcriptome analysis…), examples of medical and biotechnological applications.
In silico classes will include:
- Use of computing tools, analysis of genome sequences and annotations, comparative genomics,
- Polymorphism analysis of the human genome for evolution history and for candidate gene approach in genetic disorders.
From the Bench to Data Analysis:
- Genome microevolution of Chikungunya virus,
- Study of the primary transcriptome of Streptococcus agalactiae by RNA-seq approach in different strains,
- Analysis of DNA polymorphisms in the gene lactase and in the mitochondrial genome in human populations.
Full-time, November 02, to December 16, 2011 (examinations included)
Number of students: 20
Closing-date for applications: June 15, 2011
