Organized by the Department of Neuroscience of the Pasteur Institute and the University Pierre et Marie Curie,

The course Development and Plasticity of the Nervous System (DPSN) offers a full training program for advanced for graduate and PhD students, as well as post-graduate neurobiologists and medical doctors working in neurosciences.

The course covers the main cutting-edge topics of neuroscience research, at both theoretical and experimental levels. Students will acquire a broad understanding of various topics ranging from molecules to behavior. Lectures given by distinguished international speakers will present new data and ideas on molecular and cellular aspects of the nervous system development, plasticity and diseases. During the practical courses, various animal models (mouse, chick, frog) commonly used in neuroscience research will be used, giving students the opportunity to understand the pros and cons of each, and to expand their practical skills in carrying out experiments on cell biology, behavioral studies, axonal growth and labeling, drug stereotaxic injection, neuroanatomy and gene expression analyses using histochemical techniques (as detailed in the program of the previous year that can be downloaded here).

This course will be taught in English

Full-time, except Saturdays, from September 17, to October 17, 2012 (examinations included)

Number of students: 20
