Presentation
This course will be taught in French. Instruction will be in French, but some documents may be given in English.
The objective of this course is to teach clinical research methods aimed at preventing transfusion-transmitted infections, allowing the trainees to design and accomplish studies to improve transfusion safety in their own local environment.
The first 3 days of the course will include “state-of-the-art” lectures by French experts in transfusion medicine and epidemiology, and the remainder will consist of lectures on clinical research methods in the morning and small group workshops in the afternoon. Each trainee must bring a one paragraph research question relevant to his/her local blood bank which he/she will develop into a five or six page research protocol during the afternoon workshops.
For questions on scientific content of, or eligibility for the course, please contact Professor Lefrère (jeanjacqueslefrere@orange.fr) or Professor Murphy (murphy@ucsf.edu).
