This course, offered by the Epidemiology and Public Health (EPI), is divided in two sessions.
This course will be taught in French. A perfect knowledge of the French language is required. Some conferences may be in English.

The aim of the first session is to provide the theoretical bases of risk analysis and risk assessment in the area of food safety. This session will emphasize the scope of risk analysis in the international and national context, its various components (risk assessment, risk management, risk communication), as well as the general principles of risk assessment and its different elements (hazard identification, exposure assessment, hazard characterization and risk characterization). Some examples will be developed.

The aim of the second session is to provide students with a practical training for risk assessment models. This session deals with the principles of probability and statistics, data collection for the purpose of risk assessment, risk assessment methods, including exposure assessment, dose-response model development, risk characterization through stochastic models, and so and… It is intended at students having already attended the first section. A biomedical background and some notions of biostatistics and probability (minimal level High School Diploma + 3) are required.
