This training program, offered by the Epidemiology and Public Health (EPI), is geared toward medical doctors, veterinarians, scientists and engineers, be they French or foreign who want a practical training on the analysis of biomedical databases.

Presentation

This training course is given in French

Pre-requisite: background in epidemiology, biology or data management.

This training program covers all steps of Data Management to teach students how to perform well-developed clinical research and epidemiological studies. The goal of this training program is to teach students to create databases using Case Report Forms (CRF) with two different software packages: Epidata software for epidemiology surveys and MS Access for cohort, case-control studies and clinical trials. This training course lasts 5 full days, including sessions on theory (Relational Model) followed by practical work on the MS Access and Epidata softwares.

Program of the training course:

1- The different steps of Data Management

2- Introduction to databases

3- Introduction to MS Access
    a. Creation of tables
    b. Definition of relationships
    c. Creation of forms/ sub-forms
    d. Programming of controls (macro)
    e. Viewing data of databases (queries and reports)
    f. Add security features

4- Creation of forms with Epidata software

  • Full time, except Saturdays, from Februiary 25, to March 1, 2013 (examinations included)
  • Number of students: 30
