This course is delivered by the Epidemiology and Public Health (EPI) and is intended for doctors, pharmacists, veterinarians, research scientists and engineers wishing to acquire a good knowledge of clinical trials in the field of infectious and tropical diseases. The course will be geared towards the realisation of clinical trials in developing countries.

Presentation

This course will be taught in French (a perfect understanding of French is required).
The classroom is equiped with 30 PCs and each student will have its own computer for practicals.

Students must have a bio-medical background minimum level Baccalauréat + 3 (High School Diploma + 3). For students who have no prior training in biostatistics, a five-days introduction to biostatistics will be provided before the beginning of the course (February 23 to 27, 2009).
The course will cover both theoretical and practical aspects. Students will be asked to develop a clinical trial protocol during the practical modules, based on a project that they would like to implement after completion of the course.
Recommended textbook: “Essais cliniques - Théorie, pratique et critique" by G. Bouvenot and M. Vray (3rd edition).
