Knowledge of Biochemistry, Molecular Biology and Genetics at the Master level is recommended.
This course will be taught in French.
This full time course consists of:
1. A series of lectures (two weeks) about fundamental and current approaches in Molecular and Cellular Microbiology.
2. Experimental work (two weeks) on Bacterial Biodiversity. This course will be run by J.-F. Humbert (Cyanobacteria, Institut Pasteur and INRA) and M. Kiredjian (Fungi Culture Collection, Institut Pasteur).
3. Experimental work (five weeks) on: Streptomyces spp. and Helicobacter pylori "Adaptation of Bacteria". This course will be run by P. Mazodier ( Gram-positive Pathogens Unit, Institut Pasteur) and I. Boneca (Biology and Genetics of the Bacterial Cell Wall, Institut Pasteur).
* Full-time, except Saturdays, from September 1, to November 17, 2008 (examinations included)
To validate this teaching, an oral examination will take place in October and a written report on the laboratory work will be required by November 17, 2008

The Institut Pasteur Diploma will be awarded to students having successfully completed the final examination,
