Overview

Our work mainly focuses on cellular and molecular aspects of HIV-1 replication, and on the mechanisms of recognition of HIV-infected cells by the immune system.
We are studying :

  • the impact of HIV-1 infection on the biology of T cells
  • the mechanisms of cell-to-cell viral spread
  • the interplay between viruses and the immune system. We recently deciphered a primary function of the APOBEC family of cytidine deaminases, which is to inhibit retrotransposition of endogenous retroviruses. We are also analysing antigen presentation by dendritic cells (DCs) and the recognition of HIV-infected cells by antigen-specific CD4+ and CD8+ cytotoxic T lymphocytes.
We are also investigating the cellular and molecular mechanisms underlying the replication of Chikungunya virus.
