The Unité of Structural and Cellular Biochemistry (UBSC), is composed of two teams:

- The « NEMO team » (PI: Fabrice Agou) is studying the structure of the NEMO protein (NF-kB Essentiel Modulator) and the mechanism by which it regulates the activity of the IKK complex. This central element of the  NF-kB
signal transduction pathway has been shown to be involved in inflammation and, more recently, in cancer progression via its role in the control of apoptosis.

- The « Opiorphin team » (PI : Catherine Rougeot) is studying new natural peptide mediators of the adaptive responses to stress: Sialorphin in rats and its functional analog in human, Opiorphin. These molecules play a central role in modulating pain perception and emotional states.

Both projects have important application potential which lied to the development of R&D contracts with Pharma companies.

Key-words:

NEMO team
