III - The CRBIP to day

The limits of the CRBIP

The "Collection de l’Institut Pasteur" (CIP) and the Fungal Collection (UMIP) have been part of the CRBIP since its creation. The collection of cyanobacteria (PCC) and the group (ICAReB) "Investigation Clinique et Accès aux Ressources Biologiques" were added.
A selection of strains from research laboratories are integrated into CoSIB, a subdivision of CRBIP

Quality Assurance

The CIP was certified for the first time in 1998 (according to ISO 9000 standard) and since July 2001 according to ISO 9001 standard, version 2000.

As part of the CRBIP project, the UMIP has initiated a quality assurance approach based on the experience of the CIP. The integration of the various collections into the CRBIP follows a timetable, the various phases of which (production, control, storage) meet quality assurance requirements in terms of organisation, recording and metrology.

In 2005, the CRBIP, including the CIP, the UMIP and several collections of research laboratories, received ISO 9001 version 2000 certification from the French Quality Assurance Association (AFAQ). In 2006, the renewal of the certification of the CRBIP was obtained by including the collection of cyanobacteria (PCC)

In 2007, the limits of certification was spread to the biobank ICAReB.

Valorisation of the CRBIP

A plasmid collection has been set up to enable the CRBIP to take advantage of the potential existing at the "Institut Pasteur". The most recent strain characterisation methods have been used for control procedures, with the CRBIP benefiting from the most recent innovations developed in the laboratories of the "Institut Pasteur".

The strains supplied to the CRBIP from National Reference Centers include type strains, epidemic markers, representative strains for resistances to antibiotics and strains that are likely to change and may therefore be important for monitoring holes in vaccine coverage etc…
