The Mouse functional Genetics Unit makes extensive use of interspecific and intersubspecific crosses to identify genetic determinants of Mendelian and complex traits. We have developped over the last years a collection of strains derived from an interspecific cross between the laboratory inbred strain C57BL/6J and the SEG/Pas strain produced from progenitors of the Mus spretus species. Interpecific recombinant congenic and consomic strains are available to the scientific community on a collaborative basis.
We have developped the Gene-Link computer program for the analysis of genetic data from backcrosses. It works in DOS mode and offers multiple functions for data edition, analysis and publication. It can be downloaded as a self-extractible file containing the program itself and a detailed user’s manual.
