The next logo will be selected during the meeting by all of us and the price for the winner will be the reimbursement of the travel and accommodation fee up to 1 000 €.

Logo design competition
"Eight International Symposium : Saga of the Genus Bordetella – 1906-2006"

The "Eight International Symposium : Saga of the Genus Bordetella – 1906-2006", hereafter designated by the "Conference" is an international collaborative conference of a large group of scientists studying bacteria of the Genus Bordetella.

The Conference is adopting a logo.  To that end we are launching a competition for the creation of a new logo.

We extend an invitation to all participants to this Conference interested to submit design(s) for consideration.  This is an open competition, to be judged by the others participants to this Conference.The rules of the competition, submission information and the design brief are included in this document.

1. Form of the competition

Open design competition.

2. Conditions of participation

The competition is open to all Conference's participants.

3. Object of the competition

Creation of a logo to serve as the emblem of the next Conference and for all other conferences relating to “Saga of the Genus Bordetella”.

4. Number of designs, design and presentation data

Each participant is entitled to submit a maximum of one design.  Designs shall be submitted in their final and finished form. The designs submitted shall be original and shall not be a copy or an infringement of a logo, a trademark or any other right of a third party. The participants warrant to being the only holder of the rights which it yields by the present ones and compensate the assignee in the event of an unspecified complaint made for this reason or at the time of the use and exploitation of the logo.

5. Submission format

The final design must be submitted on an A4 sheet and/or on an electronic form. The design must reach the organisational committee of the Conference (address and electronic address) before the 1st november, 2006 at the latest.

6. Jury

The designs shall be exposed during the Conference. At the end of the Conference, the judgment leading to the final selection of designs shall be undertaken by the participants via direct vote.

7. Copyright, right of use

Upon completion of the competition, and on paying the prize mentioned below, the Conference acquires ownership of the winning logo by assignment of copyright, and in particular the rights to adapt, reproduce and represent the logo, in whole or in part, for any purposes and on any supports including Internet. The winning designer will disclaim any trademarks and without limitation all other intellectual property rights related to the design selected to be the logo. By submitting a design, the participant undertakes to have any and all rights on it, and in particular the right to use and to assign it. This assignment of rights and authorization given by the winning participant shall be given for the legal duration of the protection of said rights on a worldwide basis. The prize to the winning designer consists of the reimbursement of the travel costs for participating to the Conference. All the other designs submitted shall remain the intellectual property of their creators, unless otherwise agreed by negotiation between the parties.

8. Exploitation of the competition results for public relations purposes

By submitting their designs, the participants authorize the Conference to use the designs for public relations purposes, for instance by publishing the competition results in written or electronic media or both and to display or publish the logo.

9. Return of designs

Participants are advised to retain personal records of their designs, as neither the designs submitted nor the electronic media will be returned to them.

10. Validity of the Rules

By participating in the competition, the participants unreservedly accept these rules.
