FEBS Advanced Lecture Course Official Course InformationImportant Dates and Deadlines
The number of participants is strictly limited to ensure an efficient interaction between students and lecturers. We will accept a maximum of 120 students or postdoctoral researchers and 60 principal investigators or corporate researchers. All applicants are strongly encouraged to submit an abstract. Selection of participants will be primarily based on submitted abstracts. A total of 30 FEBS Youth Travel Fellowships are available. Student applications for these grants must include a one page CV and two letters of recommendation. All applications for FEBS and FEMS grants must be made to the organizer by February 1, 2005 (see link for details).
The registration fees are 500.- Euro for students and postdocs, and 900.- Euro for all other participants. The registration fees include roundtrip shuttle transportation from Nice, full board and lodging (6 nights) at the venue. No payments may be made before notification of acceptance has been received from the organizers. AccommodationThe venue is the VVF La Bergerie, located in La Colle sur Loup, France. This Provencal-style residence located between the French Riviera and Nice's back country is set within a 25 acres private pine-tree forest and provides numerous recreational and leisure facilities: bar with terrace, TV room, American pool table, outdoor swimming pool, volleyball and basketball courts, bowls pitch and 3 tennis courts. Students and postdoctoral fellows and other participants will stay in 2 bedroom apartments with a shared bathroom.
Travel to La Colle sur LoupLa Colle sur Loup is located 12 kilometers from Nice International Airport, thus providing easy access to all participants. It is also accesible by train from the Cagne sur mer (6 km) and Antibes (15 km, TGV) train stations. There are flights (including flights operated by low cost companies) from every major international airport in Europe to Nice. Detailed flight schedules for arrival and departures at the Nice International Airport will facilitate planning your travel. European train schedules are provided e.g. by voyages-sncf.com. We will offer 3 shuttles from Nice International Airport as well as Antibes train station to the venue. The costs are included in the registration fee. Schedule and pick-up locations for the shuttle busses will be announced later. Travelers driving from Nice to La Colle sur Loup should exit Nice through N98. After 1.2 km, take N202 and follow the signs "A8/E80 Aix-en-Provence, Cannes, Cagnes-sur-mer" to the toll (ticket). Take A8/E80 to exit 48 "D336 Cagnes-sur-mer, Vence" (4.2 km) and proceed through the toll (0.50 €). Take D336, go through "Rond-point des Gendarmes d'Ouvéa" (2 km) and after 2 km, take D436. After 1.8 km, turn right on D6. Continue on D6 to La Colle-sur-Loup and turn left to Chemin de Montmeuille. Travelers driving from Marseille, Cannes, etc... to La Colle sur Loup should leave Highway A8/E80 at exit 47 "N7 Cagnes-sur-mer, Vence, Villeneuve-Loubet" and proceed through the toll. Take N7 (1 km), continue on D2085 (2.5 km). Continue on D6 to La Colle-sur-Loup and turn left to Chemin de Montmeuille (5.0 km) .

The Nice back-country provides opportunities for hicking, rock-climbing and canyoning. La Colle-sur-loup is close to the traditional village of Saint-Paul-de-Vence with the Maeght Fundation displaying an impressive collection of modern art. It is also close to Nice with the Matisse museum and the Chagall museum, to Vence with the Chapel of the Rosary imagined and achieved by Henri Matisse, and to Vallauris with the Picasso museum. It is also close to Biot famous for its glass workshop and Grasse famous for its perfume industry. Excursions will be organized during the free afternoon and evening of May 5. Meeting Office
