July 2011 : Abes has opened the french doctoral theses database. It contains 6000 theses defended in France since 2006. The full text is available for up to 4000 theses. Data are entered in STAR application.

How to look for theses in the Sudoc catalog ? :
Select the "Extended search" option and check the "Dissertations" box in the "Types of publications" list, before you fill in the fields ; you can also select "Dissertation note". Once you have found the reference you have been looking for, click on "Where to find the document" link at the top of the record helps you to know which library is in possession of the original copy of the thesis.
Ask for the interlibrary loan if you need to consult a thesis.
