Global Health Project Assistant






As a leader in the study of infectious diseases and public health, the Institut Pasteur conducts innovative research on major global health challenges such as HIV, malaria, dengue, tuberculosis, leishmaniasis, encephalitis, malnutrition, cancer and metabolic disorders.


To respond to the increasing need for synergy and multidisciplinary collaborations between researchers from the Institut Pasteur Paris, the Institut Pasteur International Network, and external partners, the Institut Pasteur is creating the Pasteur Center for Global Health Research and Education. Building on the strengths of an extraordinary Network of 32 institutes spread over the 5 continents, the Pasteur Center for Global Health (CGH) aims to gather scientists and students in an ambitious international center to improve the health of populations worldwide. The CGH will support large international research projects to understand, treat and prevent diseases that largely impact global health and develop training programs for the next generation of health workers, researchers and policy makers in low- and middle-income countries.


The Institut Pasteur is hiring a Project Assistant, for a 6-month internship, to participate in the development of the CGH under the CGH Director’s responsibility, Arnaud Fontanet, also responsible for the Sciences Po seminar on Global Outbreak Alert and Response.



Main tasks


Participate in project proposal writing and fundraising for the Center for Global Health


  • Write summary notes and letters of inquiry to support the development of the CGH
  • Participate in stakeholder analysis for the CGH partnership strategy and research of potential funders
  • Meet heads of units of the Institut Pasteur Paris and of the Institut Pasteur International Network to transcribe  their insights into relevant input for the development of the CGH
  • Prepare meeting materials (presentations, handouts…)
  • Assist the Project Officer in general administrative tasks (organization of meetings and duty-travels, keeping documents up to date, etc.)


Participate in the adaption of education programs working closely with education managers


  • Develop a new track in the Pasteur-Cnam school of public health specialized MPH
  • Define a strategy to use, develop and incorporate MOOCs and other online teaching tools in Institut Pasteur education programs.


Contribute to the online and offline communication of the Pasteur-Cnam School of Public Health and Center for Global Health


  • Research, create and present content in ways that appeal to the audience
  • Keep the website up to date by removing unnecessary content and developing new content
  • Perform search engine optimization
  • Produce communication documents (leaflets, posters, information letters, blog posts, etc.)


The tasks of the project assistant can evolve and focus more on particular topics according to the intern’s specific interests.



Profile and required skills


  • Recent graduate students and Masters students in international relations, public health, etc.
  • Double degree in life sciences (biology, etc.) an asset
  • Knowledge and interest in global health (main challenges related to global health with particular interest in low- and middle- income countries) and/or health research
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in English and French
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Publisher an asset)
  • Basic web editing skills an asset
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, diplomacy and ability to teamwork
  • Reliability, flexibility, dynamism and ability to multi-task
  • Ability to work under tight deadlines in an organized manner





  • 6-month internship
  • Internship agreement with university is compulsory
  • Full-time, starting September 2014
  • Compensation:  € 436.05/month
  • Position may involve national and/or international travels
