Accomodation at the Institut Pasteur

Located at 31 rue des Volontaires (75015 Paris) on the edge of the campus, the Institut Pasteur International Residence provides temporary accommodation for people coming to work or attend courses at the Institut Pasteur.

 

It will close down on 31st December 2014.

 

The OMICS center will take over the premises previously occupied by the Institut Pasteur International Residence. Accommodation for students, interns and research scientists on contract will be transferred to the Cité Internationale Universitaire de Paris (CIUP).

 

The CIUP is located in the south of Paris, in the 14th arrondissement, in a 34ha park. 40 residences and collective facilities (swimming pool, stadium, theatre, university restaurant, etc...). Every year it hosts over 10 000 students of 130 different nationalities.

The transfer of accommodations between Institut Pasteur International residence and the CIUP will start in September 2014 and will be completed by the end of the year. The Institut Pasteur International Residence will eventually close down on 31 December 2014.

 

As of the 1st of September 2014, the CUIP will allocate a number of 1 person studio apartments to the Institut Pasteur. As of January 1st 2015, 40 bedrooms and 4 studio apartments for 2 persons will be available.

Accommodation at CIUP is for no less than 15 days and cannot exceed 6 months.

 

 

Eligibility to Institut Pasteur-allocated accommodations at the CIUP:

Eligibility

 

To be eligible for a place in the Institut Pasteur-allocated accommodations at CIUP you must be at least 18 years old and not reside in the Greater Paris area. Places are restricted to:

- personnel of the Institut Pasteur International Network and associated institutes coming to work on the campus,

- students attending Institut Pasteur’s courses who have confirmed their enrollment with the Registrar's Office;

- interns (students and doctoral students) for whom internship conditions have been approved (signed internship agreement);

- scientists on contract with the Institut Pasteur;

- external scientists coming to the campus to work with an Institut Pasteur team.

 

Studio apartments

As of September 1st 2014, 16 studio apartments for 1 person will be available in the Pierre and Marie Curie Residence part of the Deutsch de la Meurthe Foundation at the CIUP.

These studio apartments are furnished, have a bathroom and a fully-equipped kitchen (hob, microwave, fridge). They also have an internet access. The Deutsch de la Meurthe Foundation provides bed linen and blankets, but no bath or kitchen towels. A lavomatic is available within the Foundation.

The length of stay cannot exceed 6 months in these apartment studios.

Children cannot be admitted in the residence and over occupancy is only permitted within the limits described in the Welcome booklet (link)

 

Reservation procedure

 

Eligible persons should download and fill out the « accommodation request form ». Precise dates of arrival and departure should be given as they will be used to evaluate the rent and the deposit.

 

Arrival is strictly impossible on Sundays and public holidays.

 

Forms completed and signed by the applicant should be sent to M. Jean Mandart, Résidence Internationale de l’Institut Pasteur, 31 rue des Volontaires, 75015 PARIS, FRANCE (housing@pasteur.fr). Scanned documents are accepted and can be posted, faxed or emailed.

 

Accommodation requests are considered once applicants have been accepted on a course or their relevant internship agreement has been approved and all the administrative formalities of their stay at the Institut Pasteur have been completed. Applicants receive a reply stating acceptance or rejection of their request subject to accommodation availability. Upon acceptance, the request will be submitted to the CIUP for approval.

 

Financial terms

 

Studio apartments are let on a two-weekly or monthly basis

 

The first month’s rent is due on arrival. Rent and deposits can be paid in cash (in Euro only) or by check (bank or post office account) made out to Institut Pasteur, or by credit card. No other form of payment will be accepted (e.g. bank transfers, travelers’ checks and foreign currency).

Studio apartments and rooms

 

The Residence has 39 studio apartments for 1 person, 12 studio apartments for 2 people and 3 individual rooms.

 

Each studio apartment is furnished with one or two beds and has a kitchenette with a hob, fridge, microwave oven, tableware and utensils, a shower room with toilet, and a television, direct telephone line and internet access via the Institut Pasteur network. Blankets, sheets, pillows and pillowcases are supplied.

The maximum length of stay in studio apartments is 6 months.

 

Individual rooms have a shower and toilet, direct telephone line and television. Blankets, sheets, pillows and pillowcases are supplied. Cooking is not allowed.

The maximum length of stay in rooms is 8 days.

 

Children are not allowed in the residence and overnight guests are not permitted to stay in the accommodation.

 

Reservation procedure

 

Persons meeting the accommodation eligibility requirements should complete the “accommodation request form” (mettre le lien). The exact arrival and departure dates should be specified. These dates are used to calculate the deposit and rent due. Reception is not available for new arrivals on Saturday afternoons, Sundays or public holidays.

Upon acceptance, a deposit amounting to 20% of the full price of the stay will be requested to confirm the reservation.
