Keywords: mosquito; arbovirus; dengue; genotype-by-genotype interactions; quantitative genetics; functional genomics; evolution.

Topics: Compatibility between an arthropod-borne virus (arbovirus) and its vector depends on the specific combination of their respective genotypes. We study the genetic specificity of interactions between dengue viruses and mosquito vectors through an integrative approach combining quantitative genetics (QTL mapping) and functional genomics (transcriptome analysis, gene silencing). Our goal is to make the link between the genetic diversity of natural populations and the mechanistic basis of insect-virus relationships in order to better understand the role of vectors in the emergence and evolution of arboviruses.
