Louis Pasteur, by Patrice Debré
Editions Flammarion, 2010
" (…) Thanks to some hitherto unpublished correspondence offering an insight into Louis Pasteur’s family life, and notably his laboratory notebooks, Patrice Debré follows the scientist's approach step by step. He captures the precise instant of each discovery, that crucial moment when prodigious intuition makes a connection between previously unrelated data. This biography of Louis Pasteur provides a fascinating glimpse at the logic of scientific progress and reveals the unifying concepts that paved the way for modern-day research – biology and immunology."
Louis Pasteur, by Patrice Debré Translated by Elborg Forster.
The Johns Hopkins University Press, 2000
« Distinguished French immunologist and physician Patrice Debré offers an extensive, balanced, and detailed account of Louis Pasteur’s life, struggles, and contributions. Drawing heavily on Pasteur’s own scientific notebooks and writings, Debré presents a complete critical account of his discoveries and the controversies they raised with other scientists and occasionally with his closest associates. »
