Teaching Department

Teaching is one of the Institut Pasteur’s three core missions together with research and public health. It was in 1889 that the world’s first ever microbiology course was held. The course was called " Technical Microbiology ".

The Teaching Department is tasked with organizing and developing high-quality courses in the areas of research and public health.

The department is also responsible for interacting with universities entitled to award degrees.

Keen to attract more foreign students, the department works with the International Division to develop its intake strategy.

The department supervises all PhD students working on campus via its Tutorial system.

It oversees the Pasteur-Paris University International Doctoral Program

The department organizes the Fellowship Committee to support the recruitment of postdoctoral fellows (Roux, Howard, Cantarini and Pasteur Foundation bursaries).

The Teaching Department has been led by Claude Parsot since January 4, 2010.
