AREVA AS PARTNER OF THE INSTITUT PASTEUR IN CHINA
On the opening day of the
Institut Pasteur of Shanghai-Chinese Academy of Sciences-11 October 2004-AREVA
and the Institut Pasteur will sign a framework agreement of international cooperation
that will fall within the scope of the common problems of research and development
of innovative technologies that preserve and respect the well-being of populations.
Starting in 2005, this partnership will revolve around a crucial problem: "climatic changes and their impact on the vectors of viral diseases". It must enable the implementation of advanced research on this theme, multidisciplinary education, forums and lectures for the public.
This research relies on the acknowledgement of the visible impact of ecological disruptions (global warming, natural disasters, deforestation) on vector diseases (mosquitoes, rodents, birds), resulting in the importing of diseases into new territories, or the appearance of new viral strains.
This cooperation continues AREVA's participation in activities conducted within the context of the France-China Exchange Years with the Committee of Honour, of which the company is a member.
It is part of a larger
sponsorship approach, one of whose major axes-"sharing knowledge"-encourages
the company to make available its know-how and its technological mastery in
the service of 21st century challenges.
